Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has shared insights into her marriage, stating that being with an older partner comes with certain advantages. The 64-year-old actress spoke about her relationship with her husband, Olu Jacobs, during an appearance on a television programme.
Speaking on TVC’s “Your View,” Silva reflected on her decades-long marriage to Jacobs, who is 20 years older than her. She said older men tend to be more accommodating, allowing their partners greater freedom in certain situations.
The actress revealed that their relationship did not begin as love at first sight for her, although she said it was immediate for Jacobs. She recalled that they first met on stage and later reconnected on a movie set, where colleagues were already aware of Jacobs’ reputation in the industry.
Silva explained that at the time of their reunion, she was not initially aware of his age. According to her, she only discovered the age difference after they had begun dating, noting that Jacobs appeared youthful.
Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva got married in 1985. At the time, Jacobs was 44 years old while Silva was 24. Their union has produced two children and remains one of Nollywood’s most enduring marriages.
The actress has previously spoken publicly about her admiration for her husband and their long-standing partnership in the Nigerian film industry.
