Iran Responds to Trump’s Threats
Tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated after Iranian officials issued a warning to U.S. President Donald Trump following remarks he made about Iran’s newly appointed leader.
Trump had earlier suggested that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, might not “live in peace,” expressing dissatisfaction with his appointment.
The comments came amid rising tensions over Iran’s decision to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed, a move that has major implications for global oil shipments.
Trump Warns Iran of Consequences
In an interview with Fox News, Trump warned that Iran should prepare for “death, fire, and fury” if it continued actions that threaten international shipping and regional stability.
He also suggested that the United States would play a decisive role in determining how the leadership situation in Iran unfolds.
Trump’s remarks added to the already tense relationship between Washington and Tehran as geopolitical friction in the region continues to grow.
Iran Fires Back With Strong Warning
Responding to the comments, Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani dismissed Trump’s threats, insisting that Iran was not intimidated.
Larijani warned that even more powerful figures in history had failed to destroy the Iranian nation.
He reportedly said that Trump should be careful not to face consequences himself, stating that Iran was not afraid of what he described as “empty threats.”
Assassination Plot Conviction Raises Stakes
Larijani’s warning comes shortly after a court case involving an alleged assassination attempt against Trump during the 2024 U.S. presidential race.
According to reports, Asif Merchant was convicted for his role in the plot. Authorities said he had received training from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Security officials had earlier warned Trump’s campaign that Iranian operatives were attempting to target him and that multiple teams were believed to be operating inside the United States.
Rising Global Tensions
The exchange of threats between Tehran and Washington highlights the growing tension between the two countries at a time when geopolitical conflicts across the Middle East are already raising concerns about broader regional instability.
Analysts warn that continued escalation between Iran and the United States could have significant consequences for global security, energy markets, and diplomatic relations in the region.
