Dangote Refinery Announces Fuel Price Reduction
The Dangote Refinery has announced a reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel, offering some relief to fuel marketers and consumers.
According to the refinery’s latest pricing template released on March 10, 2026, the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)—commonly known as petrol—has been reduced by ₦100 per litre at the gantry.
With the adjustment, the new petrol price now stands at ₦1,075 per litre, down from the previous price of ₦1,175 per litre.
New Price for Coastal Fuel Supply
The refinery also revealed that the price of petrol supplied through coastal distribution channels will now be ₦1,050 per litre.
The slight variation in price reflects additional costs associated with maritime transportation and logistics involved in distributing fuel across coastal regions.
Diesel Price Also Reduced
In addition to the petrol price cut, the refinery also lowered the cost of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel).
The new diesel price at the gantry has been set at ₦1,430 per litre, representing a significant reduction of ₦190 from the previous price of ₦1,620 per litre.
Industry analysts say the price adjustments could influence fuel prices across the country if marketers pass the reductions on to consumers.
Regulatory Charges Not Included
The refinery clarified that the announced prices apply specifically to products sold at the gantry and do not include regulatory charges imposed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
These additional charges may affect the final pump price once the products reach filling stations.
Potential Impact on Nigeria’s Fuel Market
The latest price cuts from Dangote Refinery come as Nigeria continues to adjust to the changing dynamics of the domestic petroleum market following the start of operations at the massive facility.
As one of Africa’s largest refining projects, the refinery is expected to play a significant role in stabilizing fuel supply and potentially influencing fuel prices across the country in the coming months.
