A 12-year-old student has died after sustaining a serious head injury during a fight with another student at a bus stop in Georgia, United States. Authorities say the incident occurred shortly after school dismissal, and investigations are ongoing. No charges have been announced.
The student, identified as Jada West, collapsed days after the altercation and later died from a brain injury. The incident happened on March 5 near her residence in Villa Rica, a community west of Atlanta.
Video recorded by bystanders showed two students arguing after they were asked to leave a school bus. Witnesses said the disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation. Both students were enrolled at Mason Creek Middle School.
Family members said West was able to stand and leave the scene but later suffered a medical emergency. She was taken to hospital where doctors confirmed severe brain trauma. A relative stated that her heart stopped before she could return home.
The family also disclosed that the two students were previously unknown to each other and that the disagreement began earlier at school before continuing on the bus. West’s mother said her daughter had recently transferred schools and had experienced repeated bullying.
Law enforcement agencies say further details, including the exact time of death, have not yet been released.
The Villa Rica Police Department confirmed that no individuals in the video have been publicly identified. Investigators are working with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office to determine possible legal action.
