Nigerian singer Paul Okoye has rejected reports circulating online that a woman who accused him of rape and child abuse has been sentenced to six years in prison. The artist described the claim as false and misleading in a social media statement.
Reports had emerged on Thursday, March 5, alleging that a social media user identified as @chubbiediva was convicted and jailed after being arraigned for making false accusations against the performer. The claims spread widely across multiple platforms.
Responding via his Instagram Stories, Okoye labeled the reports as “fake news,” stating that the information being circulated about the case was untrue. He did not provide further legal details in the post.
The dispute traces back to September 23, 2025, when the social media user commented on a birthday post celebrating the singer’s wife, Ifeoma Okoye. Another user had alleged that the singer was unfaithful to his former wife, Anita Okoye, with a domestic staff member.
Reacting to the exchange, the accuser alleged that the singer coerced the staff member and acted improperly. She further claimed that members of the singer’s family were asked to leave the residence after the incident came to light.
Okoye subsequently responded to the allegations online, stating that he would pursue legal action against the individual behind the claims. No official court documents confirming a conviction or sentencing have been publicly released at the time of reporting.
