Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Luis Enrique has described Chelsea and Barcelona as “incredible teams,” admitting his side faces a difficult challenge ahead of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 draw.
Enrique made the remarks following PSG’s dramatic 2-2 draw against Monaco in the second leg of their Round of 16 playoff clash on Wednesday night. The result secured PSG’s qualification for the knockout stage with a narrow 5-4 aggregate victory.
With progression confirmed, PSG are now set to face either Chelsea or Barcelona in the Round of 16, depending on the outcome of the official draw scheduled for Friday.
Speaking to Movistar, Enrique acknowledged the strength of both potential opponents and warned that neither fixture would be easy for the French champions.
“Neither will be easy. They are two incredible teams,” Enrique said.
The Spanish coach also noted his personal connection to Barcelona, where he previously enjoyed major success as both a player and manager.
“Barca is very special to me, and if we get Chelsea, we’ll have a few things to work on,” he added.
PSG are aiming to win their first-ever Champions League title this season, and Enrique’s comments reflect the intense competition awaiting the club in Europe’s elite tournament.
Chelsea and Barcelona, both former Champions League winners, remain among the strongest contenders in the competition, setting up the possibility of a high-profile showdown with PSG in the knockout stage.
