Obi seeks a legislative system and rejects the executive's criminal mindset.

• Talks about a better Nigeria, Nwabueze is honest and consistent.

• Soludo praises the dedication of a legal legend to justice and constitutionalism
According to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), change won’t occur until Nigerians demolish the framework that politicians built for criminal organizations. He further bemoaned the fact that, at a time when “people are suffering,” each federal member was getting a car for N160 million.
During a condolence visit to the late Prof. Ben Nwabueze, the pioneer Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and a constitutional lawyer, Obi spoke at Ajao Estate in Lagos. He praised Nwabueze as “consistent, honest, and truthful about a better Nigeria.”
“Constitutional projects are criminal,” he declared. It gave in to such things because the executive is similarly criminally inclined. Bad behavior and rudeness have always been part of our culture. The legislative form of government is what we ought to return to. It gives the individuals for whom we voted a voice.
Presidents in Nigeria assign questions to their assistants. The criminality needs to be taken apart. Cars valued at N160 million are being provided to people who currently own vehicles. People are suffering, thus humility is required. The individual we cast our votes for needs to answer to the public.
According to Obi, Nwabueze had been “consistent in telling me things are not working” ever since he first met him. He consistently told me that the correct things needed to be done and the constitution needed to be changed.
In a related incident, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo expressed gratitude in a statement issued by Christian Aburime, his press secretary.
“Prof. Nwabueze will forever be etched in the annals of our nation’s history as a towering figure in the field of constitutional law and an elder statesman of unparalleled integrity in Nigeria,” the statement read. His unwavering dedication to the advancement of justice, equity, and constitutionalism has had a lasting effect on Nigeria.
“His insight and unceasing efforts in promoting democratic ideals have also guided our country through some of its most critical moments,” he continued. The noble people of Anambra State, along with the government, are in grief for the passing of this wonderful son and patriot. I hope future generations are inspired by his legacy.
The senator for the Anambra North Senatorial District, Dr. Tony Nwoye, expressed his condolences in his message, calling Nwabueze a legal hero whose intellectual efforts made a lasting impression both inside and beyond the nation.
“Prof. Ben Nwabueze lived an extraordinary life that was self-evident,” the speaker declared. His distinct qualities, which will be remembered for centuries, were the knowledge- and experience-driven leadership and counsel he offered, always with unwavering courteousness. These accomplishments made him an amazing legal luminary, educationist, and bridge builder.
“It is a huge loss for the Igbo people and for Nigeria.” He was renowned for his outspokenness and commitment to an anti-corrupt system. It is impossible to discuss the development of Nigeria’s judicial system without acknowledging his priceless contributions.
