Sanusi Credits Wigwe for Family's Rescue Amid Ganduje's Dethronement
Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, the former Emir of Kano, emotionally recounted his numerous interactions with Dr.

Herbert Wigwe, the late Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, during a night of tributes held in Wigwe's honor at Eko Hotels in Lagos on Wednesday.

Sanusi tearfully shared the depth of his relationship with the deceased, highlighting moments of profound support and trust.

Reflecting on a tumultuous period in Kano, Sanusi revealed how he turned to Wigwe for solace and assistance.

Aware of the potential repercussions of his actions, Sanusi emphasized the importance of surrounding himself with loyal companions.

Recalling a pivotal moment before his dethronement, Sanusi recounted a conversation with Wigwe, expressing his concerns and receiving reassurance in return.

When the fateful announcement of his dethronement arrived, Sanusi immediately sought refuge in Lagos, where Wigwe swiftly arranged for transportation and accommodation for his family, demonstrating unwavering support and friendship.

Sanusi further expressed his deep trust in Wigwe by entrusting him with his life savings for the education of his children.

Recognizing the uncertainty of life, Sanusi made provisions to ensure his children's educational future, relying on Wigwe's integrity and commitment.

Despite initially believing he would outlive Wigwe, Sanusi acknowledged Wigwe's reliability and dedication to his family's well-being.

Tragically, Sanusi's wife, Doreen, son, Chizzy, former Managing Director of Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two pilots were among the passengers on the ill-fated aircraft alongside Wigwe.
