The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Zamfara state command has arrested three people and found 40 jerrycans of petrol (PMS) that they think were being sent to bandits in the state.
This was said by Sani Mustafa, the state commandant of the NSCDC, to reporters at command headquarters in Gusau on Thursday, February 22, 2024. He also said that Sani Yakubu had been arrested for damaging electrical wires at a secondary school in Gusau.
"On February 18, 2024, a man named Sani Yakubu, who was 41 years old, was arrested for allegedly damaging electrical cables from Government Day Secondary School Tudun Wada Gusau," he said.
He said that early investigations have shown that the suspect is known for damaging electrical lines at that school in the state and other schools.
The suspect admitted to damaging electrical parts and lines at the school and selling them to Abubakar Ibrahim, a craps dealer in the Labin labin area of Tudun Wada Gusau metropolis, for N23,000. All of this was revealed during questioning.
"That terrible day, he broke into the school, broke a window, and used a table to climb into the ceiling and cause damage to the classroom block's electrical system,"
Forty bundles of copper wires from the crime scene were found with the suspect.
"On February 20, 2024, at approximately 1501 hours, Malam Isah Ahmed (M) of Bakura town was arrested by members of the Corps along with two others, identified as Usman Aliyu (M) and Habibu Abdullahi (M). They were caught buying PMS products in large quantities in a black-colored Golf Wagon with the license plate number GMM 40 XA Zamfara from Anshaibu Integrated Global Resource Limited in Talata Mafara."
"The State Government issued an order that this act goes against the ban on selling PMS products in jerrycans,"
"This Order was an attempt by the State Government to stop the scofflaws from getting PMS." This one action is accused of trying to break the law in a way that is against section 95 of the penal code.
"The suspects were caught with 40 25-liter jerrycans that were all filled with PMS."
Commandant Sani Mustapha promised to get rid of all kinds of criminals in the state.
So, he tells everyone to stay away from all kinds of crimes because of how harshly the state will punish those who do them.
