The organizers of the "Nchoke Skills Acquisition Initiative" scheme stated that the youths, who were chosen from the seven villages that comprised the community, would receive training in a variety of economically oriented skills, such as fashion design, hair styling and barbering, furniture repair, computer repair, and mobile phone repair.
Additional abilities include organizing and decorating events, doing laundry and dry cleaning, catering, producing music, fixing cars and electrical systems, producing films and videos, and installing solar panels, among other things.
The program's sponsors, Dr. Azubuike Erinugha and Mr. John Durumba, said in an interview with reporters during the official launch of the humanitarian gesture on Tuesday that it was started to help curb social vices and lower the unemployment rate among the community's youth by giving them the skills they need to make a significant contribution to the area's overall growth and development.
They also revealed that after completing the trainings, which would be held on a regular basis, the participants would receive a variety of tools to help them succeed.
According to Erinugha, the Nchoke Skills Acquisition Initiative is a program designed to raise participants' awareness of entrepreneurship and possible career paths.
Therefore, the task is to find participants, register them, and set up practical workshops that will introduce them to chances for entrepreneurship and skill development. With these abilities, young people can potentially empower themselves through their careers and other self-development tools.
The Nchoke Skills Acquisition Initiative intends to keep giving our young people access to skill-building opportunities. The program will undoubtedly help students stay focused, disciplined, and provide a strong diversion from vices, crimes, and other negative peer pressure effects in addition to teaching them new skills that may aid in the creation of future business models. The timing of the Initiative could not have been more ideal. Durumba continued.
Chief Barr. Tony Duruzo, President General of Ncheko Community; Mrs. Clara Duru, Program Manager; Mr. Chigozie Ibeke, General Secretary of Nchoke Community; Chief Austin Awujor, renowned Nollywood Actor; and Chief Dr. Fidelity Ezewike, Chairman, Chief Joachim Olumba, Keynote Speaker, HRH Eze Christopher Obieshi, King of the Community, among other guests who spoke at the event, praised the initiative and urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the chance to improve their lot, that of their respective families, and the community at large.
"A skill is the one possession that is more lasting and significant than anything else. Like life, it is vital. If you lack a skill, something is still missing—even with your education—that is crucial. Everyone should learn a talent for survival and personal development. Olumba stated.
Additionally, a few of the participants—Chidera Uzoma, Chioma Alinor, Chidinma Vincent, Deborah Opara, and Daniel Duru—expressed gratitude for the project and thanked the organizers for their kindness, promising to uphold the program's goals and objectives.
