The reduction of subsidies would soon benefit Nigerians, according to Governor YahayaGombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya declared on Tuesday that Nigerians would soon reap the rewards of the elimination of fuel subsidies.

Yahaya made this declaration in Gombe on the start of the state's palliative distribution program for its citizens.

He declared that President Bola Tinubu was working with the state governors to make sure that the hardship brought on by the elimination of the gasoline subsidy will stop.

According to him, a lot of investments are being made to help Nigerians escape the current financial struggles they are experiencing.

We pray that this trial will end by God's grace, and with the resolve of the President and the governors, we will see to it that Nigeria becomes stable.

"We will act quickly to put an end to the hardship that the removal of the subsidies has caused."

"The main cause of the hardship is the elimination of fuel subsidies, although as of right now, the refinery in Port Harcourt is starting up again."

"There is no reason why such products made locally will cost as much as what it is costing the people now. Soon, we will have our locally refined petroleum product getting to the people," he stated.

The governor promised brighter times ahead and thanked the state's citizens and Nigerians for their patience after the subsidy was removed.

Yahaya discussed the palliative distribution and stated that it was intended for the underprivileged and defenseless residents of the state's 2,988 polling places.

He stated that the gesture would help at least thirty persons every polling station, for a total estimated benefit of around ninety thousand people.

He counseled the distribution committee to make sure the food products reached the weak and in need.

He stated that the palliative care would supplement the 420,000 beneficiaries of the initial phase, which took place in August 2023.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), some suspected thugs took away some of the food items soon after the event and the governor and other key government officials left.

The quantity of criminals who stole bags of food from some of the recipients overwhelmed the security staff at the location.

Thugs scurried amongst themselves to take the food items, destroying some of the things.

Rice and spaghetti were among the goods supplied, according to NAN.
