The Rural Electrification Agency (REA), in collaboration with the World Bank and Havenhill Synergy Ltd., facilitated this achievement.
The community, consisting of over 1,400 houses, had been economically disadvantaged due to the absence of electricity, leading some residents to relocate for better opportunities.
Residents expressed their excitement, highlighting the positive impact on their lives, including improved security and economic prospects.
Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, emphasized the government's commitment to addressing the lack of electricity in rural communities nationwide, citing it as a hindrance to socio-economic growth.
Adelabu noted that the solar mini grid initiative aimed to connect selected communities, with Adafila being a beneficiary.
The Managing Director of REA, Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, stated that the installed solar hybrid mini-grid in Adafila, with a capacity to serve about 2,000 houses, marks the end of energy poverty in the community, fostering socio-economic development.
