Supreme Court holds judgement in the appeal of the Ogun gubernatorial election
The Supreme Court has deferred its judgment on the appeal filed by Ladi Adebutu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, contesting the victory of Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State in the March 2023 election.

The Supreme Court panel, led by Justice Inyang Okoro, reserved the judgment after the parties presented their briefs of argument.

In November 2023, a divided decision at the Court of Appeal upheld Abiodun's victory, with a 2-1 split dismissing Adebutu's petition. Despite the dissenting opinion by Justice Habeeb Abiru, the majority upheld Abiodun's win.

Adebutu had contested the election results, citing irregularities and malpractices.

The Ogun Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal had earlier dismissed his petition for lacking merit.
