President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, according to security expert Col Hassan Stan-labo (rtd), has not yet shown the political will to address the country's current wave of insecurity.

Speaking on the Arise TV Morning Show, he made the case that not much has changed in the nation about this matter since President Tinubu took office.

To support his assertion, Stan-Labo—who was actively involved in bringing peace to war-torn Sierra Leone and Liberia in the 1980s and 1990s—cited the President's refusal to travel to the affected communities in Plateau state, where unidentified gunmen killed at least 160 people on Christmas Eve and Day.

"It appears that there is not enough political will to address this threat," he said. The beginnings of what transpired during the previous government are becoming apparent. There is not enough political will.

It was expected that the Commander-in-Chief would arrive in a helicopter wearing military gear and tell the villagers that the situation would be resolved. He even held discussions with the service chiefs to bring the perpetrators of the dastard act to justice and gave orders to the heads of the DSS and other service chiefs to deliver results or face termination.

This is the kind of decisiveness that we anticipate from the head of state. Is it really so hard to get all of these guys? What's taking place?"

He begged the President not to lend an ear to people who harbored sympathies for terrorists and outlaws in the nation.

The veteran of the war objected to the idea of giving terrorists amnesty, saying that the President should have plenty of time to deal with those who cause instability with the gravity that their actions warrant.

Criticizing the excessive centralization of security frameworks at the federal level, he contended that establishing state police would significantly tackle the security issues inside the community.

He argued that during his eight years in office, former President Muhammadu Buhari did little to address the widespread insecurity in the nation.

He said that because of erroneous beliefs about religion, tribe, and ethnicity, Nigeria lacked political leadership under the Buhari administration to deal with those who cause insecurity.
