Sowunmi wants the NWC to call the NEC meeting, hence she is suing the PDP.
Segun Sowunmi, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ogun State, has filed a legal action at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

He seeks to restrain the party's Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and other National Working Committee (NWC) members from further acting in their capacities, citing an alleged violation of the party's constitution.

Sowunmi urges the court to compel the Damagum-led NWC to hold the mandatory National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, accusing the national leadership of hindering the party's prospects by failing to conduct the necessary review and planning for future elections.

The defendants include Damagum, PDP, and other NWC members, along with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Sowunmi highlights the need for the NEC meeting to address critical issues and plan for upcoming elections in Edo and Ondo states.

He seeks a declaration that the defendants are obligated to convene the NEC meeting as stipulated in the party's constitution and the Electoral Act.
