Niger State Governor, Mr Umar Bago, announced that farmers in the state are eager to return to their fields, and many have already resumed farming activities.
Bago expressed his commitment to spearhead the planned 500,000 hectares of agricultural production mentioned by President Bola Tinubu in his New Year message.
Following a meeting with President Tinubu in Abuja, Bago stated that Niger State is at the forefront of the president's food security initiative, with the implementation of 250,000 hectares of dry season farming already underway.
The governor emphasized the state's readiness to serve as a pilot for the federal government's 500,000-hectare project, and President Tinubu expressed positivity and satisfaction with the state's agricultural initiatives.
