The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is intensifying efforts to combat counterfeit drugs and unwholesome food products. 


In response to recent media reports, the agency aims to make illicit trades unattractive and ensure the safety of food and drugs for Nigerians. NAFDAC, under the leadership of Prof.


Mojisola Adeyeye, is taking a strong stance against criminal activities, highlighting recent actions against a cartel producing fake wines and soft drinks in Aba, Abia State. 


Adeyeye emphasized the need to protect Nigerians during festive seasons, urging vigilance and reporting of suspicious activities. 


NAFDAC has empowered officers to apprehend those involved in the production and distribution of counterfeit drugs and substandard food items. 


Despite threats and attacks on officers, Adeyeye assured the agency's unwavering commitment to public health. 


She called for support from the 10th National Assembly in reviewing penalties against counterfeiting for stronger deterrence. 


Adeyeye pledged continued sensitization activities to raise awareness about the dangers of counterfeit products in the New Year. 


Consumers are advised to scrutinize branded drinks or drugs based on the "4 Ps": place, price, packaging, and product.
