IGP gives nearly N2 billion to the surviving relatives of 785 dead cops.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has emphasized the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to improving the welfare of its personnel and families. 


To enhance service delivery, the IGP is taking steps to implement a comprehensive standard insurance policy for the Force. 


The IGP recently welcomed Mr. Sunday Thomas, the Commissioner for Insurance, to explore collaboration in establishing an effective insurance framework for Police Officers and their families. 


Furthermore, the Inspector-General presided over the distribution of insurance benefits amounting to N2,086,801,144 to 785 families and Next of Kin of deceased officers. 


This distribution covered policy years 2015/2016, 2017/2018, and 2021/2022 under Group Life Assurance Policy and the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Insurance Scheme for the year 2022/2023.


The Nigeria Police Force has settled a total of 2,533 insurance claims for deceased personnel, totaling N6,013,043,326 from June 2023 to the present date. 


The IGP praised President Bola Tinubu for prioritizing police welfare and ensuring the timely release of premiums for deceased officers, reaffirming his administration's commitment to prompt disbursement of insurance payments and other welfare benefits to beneficiaries.
