The impacted universities were shut down for not adhering to the nation's educational requirements, according to the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC), the country's higher education regulating authority.
The Education (National Minimum Standards, etc.) Act of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 was violated by the "degree mills" that are listed below, and as a result, they have been shut down. This is a notification that the National Universities Commission wishes to share with the public, particularly parents and aspiring undergraduates.
Three nations are represented among the impacted universities: three are in Ghana, six are in the United Kingdom, and five are in the United States.
The following university campuses are on the blacklisted list: University of Applied Sciences and Management, Port Novo, Republic of Benin; Volta University College, Ho, Volta Region, Ghana; the International University, Missouri, USA; Kano and Lagos Study Centers; and Collumbus University, United Kingdom; all of these campuses are in Nigeria.
The other universities mentioned are: EC-Council University, USA; Ikeja, Lagos Study Center; Concept College/Universities (London) Ilorin or any of its campuses in Nigeria; Tiu International University, UK; Pebbles University, UK, operating anywhere in Nigeria; London External Studies UK, operating anywhere in Nigeria; Pilgrims University, operating anywhere in Nigeria; West African Christian University, operating anywhere in Nigeria.
The remaining campuses are those of Houdegbe North American University in Nigeria: Pacific Western University, Denver, Colorado, Owerri Study Center and Evangel University of America & Chudick Management Academic, Lagos; African University Cooperative Development, Cotonou, Benin Republic; Cape Coast University, Ghana; Irish University Business School London, operating anywhere in Nigeria; and University of Education Winneba, Ghana, operating anywhere in Nigeria
