The Commandant of the Kaduna State Command of the NSCDC, Lucy Fakoya, made this commitment during an advocacy visit by the leadership of The All-Right Foundation (TAF Africa) at the Command’s headquarters. TAF Africa also visited the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS), receiving assurances of adequate protection for PWDs, particularly during elections.
The Commandant stressed that the PWD community is an integral part of society and needs the support of various segments, especially security agencies, to contribute effectively to societal development. NSCDC has a dedicated Desk Officer for people with disabilities, and the Commandant emphasized their commitment to enforcing the rights of PWDs.
The Corporate Services and Compliance Manager of TAF Africa, Uche Enyioha, highlighted the organization's focus on enhancing the participation of PWDs in elections, particularly the Local Government election in Kaduna State. Seeking support and partnership with the NSCDC, Enyioha emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of PWDs during elections and urged training for officers engaging directly with PWDs in the field.
