The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) reported that a potential disaster was averted on Thursday when a tanker carrying 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) overturned at Odo-Sede, Akeja area along Osi-Ikola in Ogun.

According to Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, the South-West Area Commander of TRACE, the incident occurred around 2:56 am the same day.

The tanker, which experienced a mechanical fault, rolled back while ascending a hill, falling on its side.

Fortunately, there were no casualties or property damage.

Ajibade urged tanker owners to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles before hitting the road.

The incident caused a road blockage and subsequent traffic congestion.

TRACE, police, NUPENG, and Fire Services officials were present to manage the situation, and alternative routes were suggested for motorists.

Ajibade emphasized the importance of tanker drivers avoiding reckless driving and installing speed limit devices in their vehicles.
