As the FG modifies fraud allegations, ex-CBN governor Emefiele faces new difficulties.
Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Ifeanyi Emefiele, is facing an increase in charges from six to 20 by the Federal Government.

The amended charges include forgery, conferring corrupt advantage, and criminal breach of trust.

Initially charged with N6.9bn procurement fraud, Emefiele now faces accusations of obtaining $6.2m by false pretence.

The charges involve false representation of a letter from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Emefiele is also accused of conniving in forgery, with charges of conferring corrupt advantage on his wife and brother-in-law by awarding a renovation contract for the CBN Governor's residence.

The trial is set to continue on January 19.
