Yuletide: Rancour welcomes the delivery of Senator Karimi's condolences to Kogi residents
On Tuesday, Senator Sunday Karimi of Kogi West started delivering eight trailer loads of rice bags to his constituents. In a brief statement, the Sunday Karimi Media Team stated that the food supplies arrived along with money and other comforts that would be distributed among 50 people in each of the senatorial district's 85 electoral wards. They are a component of the year-end events designed to assist families in preparation for the approaching holiday season.

However, reports suggest that the All Progressives Congress (APC), Karimi's party, has reacted angrily to the gesture. This comes after disputes on how the emergency supplies will be distributed. It was learned that Karimi had ordered the cash gifts and food rations to be given to recipients who belonged to all political parties as well as the general public. But some powerful party figures have insisted on distributing the goods only to party members. As a result, the distribution—which was supposed to start on Tuesday, December 19, 2023—has been postponed indefinitely.

The development was confirmed by an APC source. "Some powerful party figures are not comfortable with the plan to liberalize and expand the list of beneficiaries to people in the opposition," the source said. Their stance is based on the shady activities that transpired during the state's most recent off-cycle gubernatorial election. We have informed the senator of our viewpoint.

Our reporter attempted to contact Senator Karimi to inquire about his thoughts on the subject, but he did not return calls or texts. However, a second person close to the senator clarified, saying, "It is true that there have been issues brought up where some party members are strongly against plans to share the products across the board. Senator Sunday Karimi has demonstrated throughout his political career—beginning with his time in the House of Representatives—that he is a man of the people. As a leader, he opposes winner-take-all politics, bigotry, and segregation. Elections have occurred in the past. Regardless of religion, culture, or political party, Senator Karimi was chosen to represent and serve the whole Kogi West population. Even as efforts are made to guarantee equity for all, APC members will not be excluded.

I can tell you without charge that party stakeholders have been duly included in all of the senator's efforts since the party's founding in June. However, the senator has stated that the grains and palliatives in this instance shouldn't be restricted to APC members.

The bulk of the supplies ought to go to the most indigent individuals who are most severely impacted by the current unfavorable economic climate. Nothing will alter the senator's position, which is this.
