Two policemen who were trying to extort a Dutch tourist are fired. Two special constables from Nigeria, Jimoh Lukmon and Kareem Fatai, were fired when it was discovered in a widely shared video that they were attempting to demand money from a Dutch visitor riding a power cycle toward Abuja.

Adebola Hamzat, the commissioner of police for Oyo State, announced their termination on Thursday at the state's police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.

The woman was seen in the video being demanded money by Lukmon and Fatai, who were on patrol along the Moniya-Iseyin road.

A disciplinary action was started after the event, and the two Special Constabularies were taken into custody.

"Gentlemen of the press, distinguished officers, there was an incident between Iseyin and Oyo Road on October 23. Before you started requesting money, a Dutch tourist was traveling through Abuja and the two Police Special Constabularies.

"I have examined the trial of the defaulters, Special Constables Jimoh Lukmon and Kareem Fatai, who were seen on a widely shared video dated October 29, 2023, extorting money from a tourist from the Netherlands."

The Commissioner declared that he has upheld the suggested penalty of the two parties' termination.

He stated that they will become Special Constabulary members immediately and that they hope their termination will discourage others from doing the same.
