The two people responsible for her vaginal removal, which left her in a pool of blood, were sentenced to 35 years in prison by the State High Court. The incident occurred three years after the girl was tricked inside an incomplete structure in Bauchi's Jama'are Local Government.The Bauchi State Police Command accused Adamu AbdulRauf and Abdulkadir Wada with severe bodily harm and attempted culpable homicide against the girl, Hauwa'u Ya'u, after apprehending them in connection with the crime in January 2021.
Following their guilty pleas, Abdulra'uf (20 years) and Wada (21 years) were found guilty and sentenced by Judge Rabi Umar.
The prosecution attorney, Mr. Sabiu Gumba, informed the court during his argument that the two defendants were charged with three counts of criminal conspiracy, causing severe hurt, and attempting to commit culpable homicide on August 17, 2021.
Gumba called four witnesses, one of them was the victim's father; the defendants testified only on their own behalf and did not call any further witnesses.
Gumba offered a vial holding the girl's penis, some powder, and two knives that were used during the crime.
The offenders had carried out the offense in Jama'are in December 2020. Hauwa, who was six years old at the time, passed out before her privates were ceremoniously chopped off with knives.
The Governor, Bala Mohammed, reportedly promised her a scholarship, named a building at the Specialist Hospital in her honor, and paid for the plastic surgery, according to The Guardian.
