Three persons were slain by gunmen in Ebonyi during a Carol Service.

During the Christmas carol service at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Nkwegu, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, three people were killed and several others were injured by an unknown gunman's raid.

The attack was verified on Monday by Most Rev. Peter Nworie, the Catholic Bishop of the Abakaliki Diocese.

Bishop Nworie denounced the murders of the three believers and offered prayers for their souls as well as the injured, calling the situation "sad and disheartening."

An informed source claims that one of the victims, a well-known PoS operator at Nkwuagu Market, was fatally shot by the armed guys as soon as he left the church while talking on the phone.

At the time this story was filed, the Ebonyi State Police Command had not yet commented on the matter.
