The APC wins every chairmanship and council seat in the Ekiti council elections.
In the council elections held on Saturday in Ekiti, candidates for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) took home all 177 council seats in addition to 38 chairmanships.

The statement was released on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti by the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC).

At the EKSIEC headquarters, returning officers from the local government and council development areas alternated in presenting the findings from the various council areas.

The retired judge Cornelius Akintayo, the chairman of the EKSIEC, praised the Ekiti electorate for the orderly conduct of the election.

Along with praising the participating parties for their sportsmanship, he also recognized the work of the media, security personnel, EKSIEC employees who worked on the field, and others.

Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Congress (ADC), African Democratic Party (ADP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were the political parties that Akintayo named as having taken part in the election.

He mentioned the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as more parties.

Akintayo was accompanied by major officers and commissioners of the EKSIEC when the election results were announced.

Well-known opposition parties had already shown their lack of interest in the council elections, including the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
