In a statement released on X, Sanwo-Olu made this remark. The governor expressed excitement about sharing some encouraging news regarding Lagos State's participation in the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28), which is now taking place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Investor interest in the two waste conversion projects we presented at the global climate summit has been strong, according to Sanwo-Olu.
"These projects include the building of a new sewage treatment plant and the Advanced Garbage Collection and Waste-to-Energy project."
He revealed that he got the chance to inform the state's international partners of this progress as well as deliver Phase Two of the Lagos Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan (LCARP).
As per his statement, this development signifies a noteworthy advancement in the quest for attaining environmental sustainability and resilience in the state of Lagos.
According to the governor, this shows how dedicated his administration is to enhancing Lagosians' quality of life and preserving the state's reputation as a leader in development.
According to Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State's participation in COP28 is motivated by the desire to promote cooperation and teamwork in order to confront the threat posed by climate change on a global scale.
"We think that by working together, we can achieve sustainable solutions to our local environmental challenges," he stated.
"I underlined that our strategic road map for a sustainable future is the LCARP paper.
"This framework identifies thirty ambitious projects that span important sectors, including waste management, renewable energy, and transportation."
Of the thirty projects, Sanwo-Olu claims that fourteen are good candidates for public-private partnerships (PPP).
He continued by saying that his administration recognizes the value of cooperation and is actively contacting possible allies to get their support in realizing the goals of the Lagos state government.
Sanwo-Olu went on to say that his administration has a clear plan in place to accomplish its goals for mitigating climate change and is prepared to take the initiative.
"The triumph of Lagos on this expedition will not only be a triumph for Nigeria but also a motivational tale of accomplishment for Africa and the global community," he continued.
