Police in Abia announce yet another case of kidnapping youngsters.
The Abia Police Command has verified on Saturday that their unidentified female neighbor is responsible for the purported kidnapping of four young children in Umuahia.

The incident took place in Umuda Community, an Umuahia suburb, a mere three weeks after four youngsters of the same parents went missing.

The most recent kidnapping was verified by the command's Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Maureen Chinaka, in a statement released in Umuahia and provided to journalists on Monday.

According to Chinaka, the command had detained a few people in relation to the incident that happened on Saturday.

She clarified that on Sunday, a new female tenant in their enclosure, Mrs. Ifeanyi Udoma-Ibe, of Ubakala Street/Ossai Road, Umuahia, claimed to the command that she had left four children in her care.

According to information obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Udoma-Ibe left the kids with the renter while she went to visit her sister, who also rents an apartment in the complex, and took her sister's son with her.

It was reported that upon her return to the compound, she found the tenant had vacated the property along with the kids.

Two of the children were Udoma-Ibe's, according to reports cited by the PPRO; the other two belonged to her sister and another family in the property.

The children were identified by her as Miracle Ikechukwu (female, five years old), Ogbonna Udoma (male, six years old), and Joy Ufuoma (female, three years old).

The statement continued, "Unfortunately, the new tenant made off with the four children on the same day."

It said that an inquiry was underway to find out the children's whereabouts.

The tenant moved into the facility three days before to the event, according to information obtained by police from Udoma-Ibe.

Chinaka said, "And she was unable to provide specifics, like the tenant's name or GSM number."

She issued a public warning about leaving minors in the care of strangers.

She also exhorted the public to exercise caution, especially when they see children with adults.

She said, "Try to interview the adult and child, and if you're not satisfied with the answers, call the police so they can take the appropriate action."

As a result, she asked anyone with pertinent information about the missing kids to call 07059951536 or report to the closest police station.
