Organizations encourage young people to seek careers in mechanical engineering.
To promote the nation's technological advancement, the Abuja Chapter of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) encouraged young people to seek careers in mechanical engineering.


According to the statement, the institution has made a major contribution to the advancement of the mechanical engineering field in Abuja and throughout Nigeria.


At the 11th Annual General Meeting in Abuja, which had as its theme "The Role of Building Services Engineer in Energy Sector," the Chairman of the NIMechE Abuja Chapter, Engr. Ahmed Kutigi, remarked that the organization has accomplished a great deal in the short time it has been in existence.


He mentioned that the institution's members had persisted in being the best in their professions despite some of the hurdles he faced throughout his tenure.


According to Kutigi, mechanical engineers have made a major contribution to raising the standard of living for people in Nigeria and other countries. Their knowledge has produced technology that save lives, eco-friendly products, and infrastructural systems that benefit local and international communities.


"Mechanical engineers have made invaluable contributions to addressing societal needs and challenges. These contributions must be acknowledged and valued."Motivating and inspiring the next generation of undergraduates to seek professions in mechanical engineering is crucial.


"We can inspire young minds to explore the possibilities within mechanical engineering and embark on a path of innovation and discovery by showcasing the diverse and significant nature of this field."


He went on to say that the organization may develop a new generation of enthusiastic mechanical engineers who will keep pushing advancement and change through outreach, education, and mentorship programs.


"As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to our mission of fostering professional growth and networking among our members while advancing the practice of mechanical engineering in Abuja, its environs, and Nigeria."


He went on to say that the institution would keep working with other stakeholders, industry partners, and government organizations to advance the development of the profession and raise the standard of living for all Nigerians.


Kutigi emphasized that the institution's success depends on the support of its members and other pertinent stakeholders, and he expressed gratitude for their unwavering dedication to the development of mechanical engineering in Nigeria.


The Executive Council Committee for the 2024–2025 Fiscal Year was elected, with the following individuals winning positions: Engineer Odama Ojeka Mathew, MNSE, MNIMechE, as Chairman; Engineer Adeyinka Aderemi, MNSE, MNIMechE, as Vice Chairman; and Engineer Nathaniel Ajah, MNSE, MNIMechE, as General Secretary.
