On Friday, Benin's Oba, Omo N'Oba N'Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, received congratulations from Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, on the occasion of the country's annual Igue Festival, which took place on Thursday.


"I extend my heartfelt felicitations to His Royal Majesty, Omo N'Oba N'Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin on the joyous occasion of the 2023 Igue festival," the governor stated.


"In keeping with the spirit of the season, I pray for everyone in Edo to continue enjoying peace, advancement, and prosperity. Iselogbe! He exclaimed, "Oba gha to kpere ise!"


Additionally, the state deputy governor expressed his respect and allegiance to the Oba in a statement even as he congratulated him.


Shaibu mentioned that as part of the customary end-of-year celebrations to welcome in the new year, the Benin royal family and the good people of the great Benin Kingdom have celebrated the ancient event over the years.


"It gives me great pleasure to congratulate His Royal Majesty on this historic occasion of the annual Ugie festival in 2023."


The long-running celebration has developed into a lavish occasion that introduces the globe to the rich cultural and traditional legacy of the Benin Kingdom.


Over the years, the Ugie Festival has given Beninese residents and people a genuine forum to engage, mingle, and encourage love and peaceful cooperation.


It is a pleasure to offer Umogun my royal congratulations as our great king, my own highly esteemed father, celebrates in style, embodying the magnificent splendour and grandeur royalty of medieval aristocracy.

"Oba Gha To' Kpere, lse!" Shaibu shouted further.


Mrs. Maria Edeko sent congratulations to the Oba, the deputy speaker of the state House of Assembly, wishing the King a long and prosperous life.
