NMA recognizes Zulum for his contributions to the advancement of the health sector.Governor Babagana Zulum was unfortunately unable to attend the occasion, thus Mr. Bukar Tijani, the state secretary for the administration of Borno State, lifted the medal that was presented to him.

Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State, was honored by the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) on Saturday in Abuja for his significant contributions to the advancement of the health sector.

At a dinner/award ceremony to commemorate the 2023 National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, Dr. Uche Ojinmah, National President of NMA, commended Zulum for growing the health sector in Borno State.

According to him, the governor has succeeded in elevating the health sector to a point where people are motivated to take use of its many benefits in order to address their health-related issues.

Ojinmah urged the governor, who was represented at the function by Mr. Bukar Tijani, the state secretary to the government (SSG), to carry on with his excellent job in the Borno health sector.

He asked the governor not to get sidetracked by those he labeled as opponents of advancement.

In response, the governor expressed gratitude to NMA for recognizing him as deserving of this excellence award and said it would boost his confidence even further.

"The NMA has conducted multiple assessments based on their observations, and it appears to them that the governor has met the requirements by prioritizing the health sector and supplying the required instruments and equipment to physicians throughout Borno.

"I believe the NMA determined that the governor was deserving of the merit award; this decision was made in light of the NMA's performance and support of the health sector.

"This award is a confirmation to continue with the good work in the health sector," Zulum stated. "The driving force is determination to see that citizens enjoy the best, both in the primary, secondary, and tertiary health facilities."
