"LP is not a part of the merger agreement or coalition."
The Labour Party's leadership has refuted any suggestions that it is a member of or has supported the newly formed coalition of political parties that are worried, which was introduced earlier this week.

According to reports, the Coalition of Concerned Political groups is a coalition made up of seven opposition political groups.

The Labour Party was not represented at the meeting, according to a statement from Obiora Ifoh, the party's national publicity secretary, hence it was not possible for the party to be a part of the alliance as implied by the article.

"We can confirm that one of our officials was quoted out of context in the publication, which gave the false impression that the Labour Party supported the coalition."We have persisted in our assertion that the Labour Party is currently conducting a post-mortem of the 2023 general election, and we will not rush into any political arrangement until after the exercise.

He did, however, state that the party would still take part in exclusive gatherings of like minds where topics related to the most recent general elections are deliberated with the goal of putting forth workable answers to trends endangering democracy.

The Labour Party is eager to take the lead in talks over Nigerian electoral changes. We hope to come up with a long-term solution in which the president of Nigeria, a country with a population of over 200 million, wins with fewer than 9 million votes and less than 10% of the total number of voters who are registered.

The Labour Party is also looking for a long-term solution to the issue of the courts usurping the electorate's sovereignty.

It is aggravating that, following the strain that elections cause for both candidates and voters, and following electoral victory at the polls, three or five people happily overturn the public's decision on the basis of some petty technicalities. That is not the message of democracy.
