Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (rtd), a candidate for governor on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, has stated he can unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming election.According to Airhiavbere, the party must also be reinforced in order to put up a strong fight in the 2024 election.
At the APC secretariat in Benin City, Edo state, he announced his desire to run for governor.
In addition to donating N10 million to the course, Airhavbere stated that the party needed to relocate to a suitable secretariat and that ward and local government levels needed to be strengthened in order to fulfill the demands of contemporary politics.
He pledged to maintain peace and build infrastructure in the fields of agriculture, health, and education, but he also said he would prioritize the state's economy.
"To win elections in the next sixteen years, we need to strengthen the Edo APC," he declared. I think that when the election of the next year approaches, we anticipate the visit of President Bola Tinubu to the state, and I am contributing N10 million to initiate the construction of a new secretariat.
After retiring from the Nigerian Army and traveling much over the years, he claimed to have the experience necessary to lead the state. He also mentioned that the party must field its strongest candidate for the election.
"Edo APC ought to be the national APC's beating heart. The best applicant must be presented, and I think I'm the ideal person for the job.
"I think my background and connections from my travels make me the ideal candidate for the position. Given that I have already helped others, I think it is my time to take on the role of governor. Allow me to serve as the antelope's bait.
