Gov. Yusuf: Kano government prevents leaks and opposes embezzlement of public monies.
According to the Kano State Government, it has stopped leaks that could have allowed state officials to misuse taxpayer dollars.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Gov. Abba Yusuf revealed this on Saturday in Kano at the celebration of the 2023 International Anti-Corruption Day.

Speaking through his deputy, Alhaji Aminu Gwarzo, Yusuf outlined some of the enormous steps the state government has made to guarantee a better living for the people of the state, citing the fact that it does not accept corruption as evidence.

The governor announced that his administration has zero tolerance for corruption during the event, which was organized by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).

He clarified that the government has started paying civil officials' salaries again, eliminating the needless deductions that his immediate predecessor had instituted.

Yusuf went on to say that public properties that were unlawfully obtained by some people during the previous government have been retrieved and made available to the general public, using the Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital as an example.

He said that in addition, the government has made it a priority to establish anti-corruption units within government organizations while making sure that the unpaid N6 billion in pensions and gratuities of retirees who were disregarded by his immediate predecessor be paid.

The commission was earlier referred to as the nation's most active subnational anti-graft agency by Mr. Muhyi Rimingado, the chairman of the state anti-graft agency.

He clarified that the purpose of the day's celebration is to encourage people to resist corruption.
