The Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports, and Culture, Mr. Sagir Musa, made this announcement on Friday in Dutse.
He stated that during its meeting on Thursday, the State Executive Council (SEC) approved the projects.
According to Musa, the SEC granted 534,372 dollars in response to a memo submitted by the Ministry of Higher Education. The memo asked for payment of 184 impoverished students who were transferred from Sudan to Near East University in Cyprus, as well as for tuition, housing, application fees, and international student support services.
According to him, the SEC has also sanctioned N312 million for the reimbursement of the affected students' travel expenses, including air tickets, visas, and living allowances for a whole year.
According to the commissioner, the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has its N697.8 million counterpart amount approved by the SEC.
According to him, this would make it easier to build 156 new classrooms, renovate 207 existing ones, build 39 restrooms, install 68 hand pumps and boreholes, and deliver 14,016 classroom sets and perimeter fences to various schools around the state.
According to Musa, the Council also granted N73 million for projects involving the renovation of two secondary schools' libraries, senior staff quarters, and hostels.
According to him, the initiatives will also make it easier to buy and install solar-powered pumps at Kafin Hausa and Government Day Science Secondary School in Hadejia, respectively.
