The names of the prisoners include Aliu Oguntona, who was condemned for sexual offenses, Fatai Taiwo Akande from Ijebu-Igbo, who is also rumored to have been found guilty of murder, and Hammed Adeboyejo, who was found guilty of armed robbery and murder.
It was learned by The Guardian that the prisoners broke out of the facility approximately three days prior.
The incident was confirmed in a statement released by the state-owned security organization So-Safe Corps' Ijebu Imushin Area Command, which has since gone viral.
According to the report that has reached us, three inmates—Hamed Adeboyejo, who was found guilty of murder and armed robbery; Fatai Taiwo Akande, an Ijebu-Igbo man, was sentenced for murder; and Oguntona Aliu, a man convicted of sexual offense—escaped from the Ijebu-Ode Correctional Center. If you see any of these individuals, please get in touch with the nearest So-Safe Corps Command office, the Nigerian Police, or any other security agency.
When contacted, Soji Ganzallo, the Commander of the So-Safe Corps, claimed he was unaware of the alleged jailbreak and that any information about it should be taken with a grain of salt.
The event was verified by Mr. Victor Oyeleke, the Public Relations Officer for the Nigeria Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, who stated that it occurred early on Saturday morning at around three in the morning.
"Yeah, it is confirmed, it happened early on Saturday morning around 3am," stated Oyeleke. A search has been launched in an attempt to locate the three of them. Both their biometrics and family contacts are available to us. We are collaborating with other sibling agencies, and they will return eventually.
