Five LASTMA employees were fired due to corruption

Five LASTMA employees were fired due to corruptionFive of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority's (LASTMA) employees were fired for corruption, and two others received reprimands for missing work without permission.

On Friday, December 8, 2023, in Oshodi, Lagos, a decision was made on the seven LASTMA officers who had been indicted.

In a statement, LASTMA spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq stated that the Lagos State Civil Service Commission had approved each proposal the Personnel Management Board had made about the seven indicted officials during their meeting on Tuesday, August 19, 2023.

In a similar vein, Bakara Oki Olalekan, the Acting General Manager of LASTMA, said that the disciplinary action was in compliance with the regulations in place, which are based on the Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

According to Oki, the Agency would only improve if and when the public shared their experiences—both good and bad—and, where necessary, offered proof of alleged misdeeds.

In the meantime, Oki said that further administrative review is being conducted in the cases against the 14 LASTMA Officials who remain indicted.
