Yesterday in Abuja, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, informed the press about the development.
He said that the promotion was unprecedented, particularly in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), where 21,381 personnel were promoted to their next ranks out of 25,351 personnel who took promotion examinations. He challenged the promotees to return the favor by recommitting themselves to the country's service.
In line with his dedication to the welfare of all individuals serving the nation in various institutions, the minister, who is being represented by Dr. Ahmed Audi, Commandant General of the NSCDC, notes the significant role President Bola Tinubu played in the prompt approval of the promotion.
He stated that of the 16,988 candidates who took examinations, 1, 680 were promoted in the Federal Fire Service and 6,544 candidates in the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) received promotions.
In addition, Dr. Tunji-Ojo provided the NCoS promotion breakdown, stating that 4, 498 out of the 7,000 candidates that took the exam were promoted.
Alhaji Ahmed Ja'afaru, the secretary of the Civil Defense, Immigration, Fire and Correctional Services Board, and Haliru Nababa, the controller general of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCOS), were present at the meeting.
