According to the two ministers, this highlights the high value that the President places on the education sector.
The Director of Press and Public Relations, Ben. Bem Goong, announced in a statement in Abuja yesterday that the two individuals expressed this during the commencement of a two-day retreat for education stakeholders in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.
The statement indicated their commitment to vindicate the trust placed in them by the President by diligently executing the education roadmap and Mr. President's revitalized hope program.
According to Prof. Tahir Mamman, the alignment between the Presidency and the National Assembly in their will to address the country's concerns makes this administration invincible.
Prof. Mamman recognized the contributions of past administrations to the progress of the education sector. However, he emphasized that there are still significant challenges in terms of improving infrastructure, enhancing teacher quality, ensuring the security of educational institutions, and providing quality education for vulnerable groups.
According to Prof Tahir Mamman, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is demonstrating his commitment to the education sector by giving it the highest priority in the 2024 budget. Prof Mamman emphasizes the need for collective effort to guarantee that Nigeria regains its esteemed position among other nations.
Prof Mamman urged the leaders of parastatals and agencies to diligently and collaboratively improve the quality of education delivery at all levels, for the country's benefit.
Mamman took the opportunity to urge all State Governors to collaborate with the Federal government in order to establish a robust, efficient, and self-sustaining education system for the country.
In his introductory speech, Dr. Sununu highlighted that the 2024 budget for the sector demonstrates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's strong commitment to enhancing the quality of education for improved livelihoods, positive economic results, and equal opportunities for all stakeholders in the sector.
Dr. Sununu praised the determined efforts of his colleague, the Minister, the Permanent Secretary, and other stakeholders who have diligently worked on the development, evaluation, and compilation of the 2024-2027 Roadmap for the Education Sector. He described the retreat as a crucial mechanism to ensure the timely and effective execution of the master plan.
He also urged the stakeholders, especially the states of the Federation, to actively support and ensure the successful execution of the Roadmap.
Attendees at the retreat reached a consensus regarding the necessity of establishing unambiguous objectives, allocating duties, and adhering to certain timetables in order to accomplish the predetermined goals.
The retreat is being attended by Directors from the Federal Ministry of Education, Chief Executives of Education parastatals, and Commissioners of Education from all states in the Federation.
