The Delta State Government revealed this on Friday in a statement on X.
The Delta State Government issues a caution against riders of motorcycles and tricycles being unjustly charged fees. According to the statement, all levies are still in place.
Additionally, the Delta Government instructed the people of the state to report any attempts to collect these fees to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) or CP Wale Abass, the Commissioner of Police.
The government also threatened legal action for anyone found in violation of the law.
In a related move, CP Abass, the Commissioner of Police for Delta State, has outlawed the usage and sale of firecrackers, knockouts, fireworks, and other pyrotechnics.
Abass issued a warning in a press statement signed by Delta Police Command spokesperson Bright Edafe, stating that it should be avoided as it poses a threat to state security.
During his speech, Abass cautioned that employing fireworks (knockouts) can be bothersome, which can lead to additional worry, panic, and needless disturbance of the peace.
He also cautioned against the dangerous effects of using it, pointing out that it can allow distractions that allow criminals to carry out their crimes and put locals in danger.
The CP issued a severe warning, saying that any dealer or person who disobeys the restriction will be subject to the full force of the law if discovered.
In light of this, Edafe advised parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children and limit their use of knockouts over the Christmas and New Year holidays.
