Dr. Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, and Abubakar Badaru, the Minister of Defense, completed preparations on Friday to safeguard the nation's mining environment.
Speaking in a cordial manner to Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dele Alake, Badaru emphasized that the meeting is advancing cooperation to safeguard mining sites throughout the nation, reinforcing the administration of President Bola Tinubu's determination to eradicate the activities of illicit miners and the accompanying banditry that goes along with them.
"The country needs to make huge revenue from mining, but the industry is beset by insecurity," stated Badaru. The minister is putting a lot of effort into getting us to seriously safeguard the mining regions for this reason.
"For this reason, we constantly debate how to preserve the mining environment, establish enduring peace in the nation, and enable mining to thrive while providing the nation with much-needed foreign exchange from the industry."
The Defense Minister responded to the proposed new security architecture by reiterating that clearance operations at flashpoints are planned ahead of the deployment of the specialized mining police.
Regarding deadlines for clearance operations, Badaru stated that planning has advanced, citing cooperation with the ministry of solid minerals to obtain information about all mining sites around the nation in order to facilitate coordinated security activities.
Dr. Alake warned the sponsors and illegal miners that their time was running out and that the federal government would not hesitate to use all available legal means to stop them from engaging in these unlawful operations. He even read the riot act to them for the umpteenth time.
