Mu'azu, a resident of Bauchi State, was accused by the police of impersonating and dressing like a governmental servant.
After entering a not guilty plea to the charges, the judge, Saminu Suleiman, ruled that the defendant would be held in a Correctional Service facility in Suleja until December 7 in order to await a hearing.
The defendant was taken into custody by a group of police officers on November 16 at around midday, according to the prosecution's attorney, Mr. Chinedu Ogada, who was escorted by DSP Jeosph Akor, the Zuba police station's officer in charge of surveillance.
Ogada informed the court that while the defendant was wearing a mobile police uniform, the surveillance patrol team had apprehended him and taken him to the station.
He claimed that the defendant was attempting to forcibly take a motorcycle from a commercial biker while posing as a mobile police officer and engaging in illegal activity.
According to the prosecution, the defendant was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation of himself for the police investigation.
According to him, the offenses were under Penal Code Sections 133 and 132.
