Concerned over an alleged conspiracy to steal N8 billion from Kano's treasury, the APCConcerned about an alleged scheme by Kano State Government employees to embezzle NN8,080,190,875.13 billion from the Kano state government coffers, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has voiced alarm.

Abdullahi Abbas, the Chairman of the Kano State Chapter, pleaded with representatives of the state's forty-four local councils to refrain from participating in purported actions by state employees.

In addition, he issued a warning to the commercial banks taking part in the purported transaction to stop clearing the money's release.

The ruling of the Kano state Supreme Court regarding the contest for the state governorship between Yusuf Gawuna of the APC and Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is a backdrop that the APC's stance is being considered against.

In a statement, the leader of the APC stated that he possessed a copy of the ministry of local government's letter of conveyance of approval, which instructed the 44 local councils to release N3,607,370,858.00 million and N101,655,000.38 million, respectively, for the construction of the Tal'udu and Dan'Agundi interchanges.

Abbas emphasized that the letter of approval for the councils' contribution to the projects was forwarded to all council chairmen, copied to the Auditor-General, local government audit, and all ministry zonal inspectors.

In order to make sure there are no obstacles in the way of putting pressure on the local councils through the embezzlement of their finances, the Party Chairman pointed out that the administration only appointed new treasurers and Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) on Friday.

He urged on the government to reevaluate its choice in the best interests of Kano state's development, claiming that even members of the NNPP had criticized the timing of the projects' launch.
