The State Minister of Defense, Dr. Bello Matawalle Maradun, has received praise from the All Progressive Congress (APC) APC National Defense Coalition for working with the US to combat national insecurity.On Thursday, Matawalle paid US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin a special visit.
In a statement, the coalition leader, Comrade Abdullahi Anas Kaura, stated that the visit's goal was to promote productive conversations and partnerships with political figures in order to advance the country's security.
"Nigeria has achieved successes in the fight against insecurity and is prepared to collaborate with the US government to address the nation's security issues," he declared.
Their shared goal is to investigate novel approaches and projects that would strengthen Nigeria's security framework and guarantee the security and welfare of its people.
Notably, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's support and sponsorship for this visit has drawn a lot of attention since he understands the need of a robust military system. The government's dedication to protecting the country is further demonstrated by President Timubu's support of Dr. Matawalle's initiatives.
"Key topics like intelligence sharing, counterterrorism measures, border security, and the improvement of defense capabilities are the focus of the discussions held during these sessions.
"Matawalle and his counterparts are paving the way for effective collaboration and the exchange of best practices by participating in candid and constructive dialogues."
The delegation went on to say, "The purpose of our visit is to highlight Nigeria's proactive approach to confronting security concerns head-on, with an emphasis on responsibility, openness, and consistent appraisal of our leaders' efforts.”
