Nigerians have been urged by Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa not to demoralize military personnel in the wake of the regrettable bombing of villages in Tudun Biri, Kaduna state.
When CDS Musa appeared on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, he begged the public not to demoralize the military with their words or deeds.
"We realize that, in general, everyone feels awful, and we feel awful too. We accept responsibility for our mistakes and feel terrible about them, especially when it involves the loss of our own soldiers, the speaker stated.
"All we want Nigerians to know is that this was not a planned tragedy. Since our mission is to safeguard Nigerians—especially innocent Nigerians—we will never intentionally target our compatriots.
"We have in fact been doing that, but regrettably, of the 99 triumphs we have experienced, this one has elicited a lot of negative feedback. We are striving for success because we are aware that Nigerians aspire to it.
But we must not demoralize our soldiers with our words or deeds. These guys keep their eyes open so you may rest.
It is simpler for you to claim that they are struggling and made a mistake. What happens if they leave these locations? We won't even possess a nation.
On Sunrise Daily, Musa was also questioned about any updates on the inquiry into the matter.
A committee that will investigate it has been established by the federal government. We know that in the end, the truth will be out, so we don't want to be comfortable," he remarked.
"And after that, everyone will realize that it was a mistake because a lot of activities were taking place in that exact area."
During the Maulad celebration, the Army unintentionally bombed the residents of Tundun Biri; Nigerians were incensed by the terrible episode.
On December 3, 2023, a terrible tragedy occurred that left over 100 people dead and numerous others injured.
