On Thursday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, 1.5 million pills of tramadol and rohypnol intended for South Africa were found by NDLEA agents.


Two suspects, Bada Akorede and Amusan Sharafadeen, were taken into custody in relation to the shipment, which included 510,000 tablets of Rohypnol and 1,050,000 tramadol pills.


Agents of the agency also seized a 2.2 kg shipment of cocaine on the Owerri-Onitsha Expressway on Thursday.


The drugs shipment that originated in Lagos was wrapped in condoms and was on its way to Port Harcourt, according to NDLEA spokesman Mr. Femi Babafemi, who made the announcement on Sunday in Abuja.


According to him, a suspect named Isaac Okoh (45) has been taken into custody in relation to the drugs.


Additionally, the NDLEA found 100 kg of Indian hemp hidden in the ceiling of Ibrahim Yahaya, a 35-year-old dealer who was taken into custody following a raid on his Lafia home on Friday, December 15.


Babafemi added that on December 15, 1,496 bottles of codeine were found in Abuja by NDLEA agents, and in a follow-up operation, a suspect named Ozioma Enoja (31), was taken into custody.


He continued by saying that on December 16, 400 bottles of codeine that had been shipped from Port Harcourt were also found on the Abaji-Abuja Highway, and in a follow-up operation, Bala Ishaq, a suspect, was taken into custody.


On December 13, he said, NDLEA agents also found 17 bags containing 195.8 kg of Indian hemp hidden in a bush in Gbanke village, Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Edo.


Babafemi added that two suspects were taken into custody by anti-drug officials in Ogun at the Alamutu Roundabout in Abeokuta, where they were found in possession of 279kg of bags of Indian hemp.


On December 12, NDLEA agents in Borno detained Bukar Ali, 29, and Abacha Fantami, 20, at Ngamdu in the Kaga Local Government Area after finding 171 kg of Indian hemp.


Babafemi further stated that on December 13, at the Tsafe checkpoint in Zamfara, three suspects—Jamilu Haruna, 22, Mohammed Hassan, 23, and Aminu Umar, 50—were also taken into custody with 57 kg of Indian hemp.


They were detained while traveling to Zurumi Village, a well-known bandit stronghold.


On December 10, at least four individuals were taken into custody in Cross River: Ezekiel Thompson (56), Hezekiah Ime (20), Nsikak Okon (39), and Chidi Kalu (44).
