The accident was caused by speeding, according to Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, the South-West Area Commander of TRACE, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Ota.
According to Ajibade, the collision, which occurred on Friday at 4:15 p.m., included a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number DGB 504 VK and a Mercedes Benz truck without a license plate.
He said that there were four people in the accident, one of whom died and the other who was injured, with the other three escaping unharmed.
According to Ajibade, the Mercedes Benz vehicle crashed into a commercial motorcycle rider after losing control due to speeding, sending both of them into the river.
"The deceased victim has been claimed by his relatives for the funeral rites, while the injured victim was taken to the hospital prior to our arrival," he stated.
In an effort to minimize or completely prevent accidents during this holiday season, Ajibade issued a warning to drivers and motorbike riders about reckless driving and excessive speeding.
