226 rape cases: CSOs teach teenagers about GBV prevention, according to Bauchi First LadyThe governor's wife, Aisha Bala Mohammed, the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, and civil society organizations have trained teenage girls in prevention techniques in response to the report of the Bauchi State Action Committee on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), which stated that 226 cases of minor rape were reported between 2020 and 2023.


Stakeholders and experts demanded that the Child Right Act be domesticated during the events that marked the conclusion of the 16 days of GBV activity organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady.


The governor's wife had earlier in the week asked for the creation of a mobile court to try GBV offenders in order to expedite the administration of justice. In his reply, Mohammed requested that the chief judge and the state attorney general collaborate on the request.

During the sixteenth day of teenage activism training at the Government House on Sunday, Aisha Mohammed urged women and girls to stand up and take their proper place.


She clarified that many women struggle with depression and are afraid to talk about how it is hurting their health.


Aisha was praised for her unselfish efforts to further the development of women and girls by Hajara Gidado, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, who also spoke. She declared that her ministry is prepared to carry on uplifting women and girls.


Panel discussions featuring representatives from the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), the Attorney General's office, the police, and traditional leaders are part of the event. In addition, ASPIRE, UN Women, Plan International, and others
