Variations are given a reprieve when President Tinubu suggests restoring full autonomy for Nigerian variabilities
The Federal government is actively pursuing the reinstatement of the University Full Autonomy Policy.

According to the President, this new policy direction is grounded in the government's belief that university autonomy allows institutions to progress at their own pace without external hindrances or bureaucracy. Speaking through the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Engineer Abubakar Momoh, at the University of Benin's 48th convocation ceremony, the President expressed confidence that university autonomy would shift the responsibility of performance directly to individual institutions, reducing uncertainties.

The government remains committed to improving welfare conditions in universities through infrastructure provision and sustainable policies, including support from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

The President emphasized the importance of universities in research, technological breakthroughs, skill development, and moral guidance for the youth to contribute to the nation's industrialization and economic prosperity.

The Minister echoed the President's appreciation for the University of Benin's leadership and congratulated the graduands, emphasizing unity and progress.
